Live Music
Saturday 24th May 7pm
Alogte Oho was close to giving up on his dreams of becoming a successful musician when he was involved in a serious car accident that nearly cost him his life. However, it was during this two-month recovery period that inspiration struck, and the song ‘Mam Yinne Wa’ (God, You Love Me So) was born.
Also the name of Alogte’s first internationally released album, Mam Yinne Wa was an instant hit with the Frafra people, earning the Northern Ghana-based artist the title of best Frafra-Gospel artist.
Accompanied by his cheerful choir, The Sounds of Joy, over nine tracks Oho takes his listeners on a journey like no other – lilting from low slung reggae based numbers to upbeat songs played in traditional local rhythms.
Afriquoi are an underground sensation, bringing an uplifting fusion of African music and live electronics. The masterful 5-piece live show combines Gambian kora, Congolese guitar + Mandinka percussion styles with electronic music drawing on house, garage, disco, soul + jungle to create something entirely unique.
